Harman Motors in Christchurch specializes in custom tuning Holden V8 motors. Over the years it has built up a marketing database of Holden V8 owners in the South
Island.
To create demand for its services, Harman Motors regularly sends direct marketing letters to people on the database inviting them to bring their cars along to a Dyno Day. Car owners can see how well their motors perform when
hooked up to the Dyno machine. The information is presented in a free report which normally costs $90.
The company owners trialed various versions of the direct marketing letter. They felt the response rate could be improved so approached Robin Major Marketing for suggestions.
